Helping You Understand and manage Your Anger

Anger is a natural emotion. Its function is to let us know that our boundaries are being crossed, and that we need to take action to remedy this. It encourages us to seek justice and right wrongs. However, when anger becomes a frequent state of being, difficult to control and misdirected, it can have a deeply negative impact on our relationships, work, and overall well-being. Unmanaged anger often leads to feelings of guilt, shame and isolation. However, learning to understand and manage anger in healthy ways can turn it from a significant issue into an opportunity for strength and growth.

I provide counselling for people looking to manage their anger more appropriately. Knowing that anger is a natural emotion, you will not be judged for expressing it. My approach focuses on helping individuals identify triggers, understand what lies underneath the anger, and on providing practical tools to manage anger before it becomes destructive.

I can help you develop awareness of the specific situations, thoughts, and emotions that trigger your anger, enabling you to anticipate times when you may get angry and not be at the mercy of your reactions. Together, we can work to understand the feelings, thoughts and beliefs that underpin your anger, and give you access to sustainable ways to deal with them. I can  provide practical strategies to help you disengage and calm down rather than react. I provide tools to help you communicate effectively and set boundaries in a healthy way, so you feel heard without getting overwhelmed and having to escalate into conflict. Being aware of what lies beneath your anger will also help you develop a more accepting and calm relationship with yourself. Knowing yourself better, you will be better placed to understand and respect others too, so that the quality and depth of your relationships can grow.
